Become a Master Trainer in Basic Emergency Care

May 2024

The Association, together with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Laerdal Foundation are committed to the development and implementation of the Acute Care Action Network (ACAN) globally.

The ACAN has potential to dramatically improve lives globally, especially in limited resource countries, for time-sensitive conditions such as heart attack, stroke and other non-communicable diseases by developing tools and resources for assessment, training and implementation.

The Basic Emergency Care (BEC) course was developed as a part of these initiatives by WHO and the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC), in collaboration with the International Federation for Emergency Medicine, to disseminate best practices for acute illness and injury in environments with limited resources. BEC teaches a systematic approach to the initial assessment and management of time-sensitive critical conditions where intervention can save lives. Health care providers can sign up for a 5-day in-person or 2-day hybrid course. The Association is committed to improving care globally and encourage the Association’s global instructor network to become a BEC instructor and teach these lifesaving skills locally.
