In May 2023, the Association – in collaboration with The University of Miami Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education – launched the Advanced Stroke Life Support® (ASLS®) program. This comprehensive blended learning course is designed to empower international in-hospital and prehospital health care professionals with the tools they need to identify, evaluate and effectively administer stroke care. ASLS® is unique in its ability to overcome systemic access barriers, making the program impactful in countries where health care practitioners may face challenges.

Two recent training sessions in December expanded the regional growth. In Dammam, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Health facilitated training for 159 providers and 51 instructor candidates hosted by the King Fahad Specialist Hospital Training Center. Soon after, the General Organization of Health Authorities International Training Center in Egypt hosted another session, training 30 providers and 10 instructor candidates. The training in Egypt was made possible by the support of the General Organization of Health Authorities (GOHA), Town Hospital ITC for its active commitment to advancing stroke care initiatives, and the incredible dedication and expertise of Dr. Firas Al Najjar and Mr. Firas Al Dakkak.

Guided by expert instructors, participants immerse themselves in interactive simulations and practical exercises that equip them with advanced stroke management skills. These training courses mark significant progress in providing access to high-quality stroke care education globally while meeting the professional education requirements for the Association’s International Stroke Center Certification. This initiative enhances capacity building for stroke care and health care improvements for everyone, everywhere.
