The American Heart Association played a leading role at the World Resuscitation Congress (WRC) in Madurai, India, where more than 400 delegates from 20-plus countries gathered to advance resuscitation science. The Heart Association delivered hands-on, simulation-based training for doctors and nurses, prompting enthusiastic feedback and demand for future sessions.

The WRC was organized by Dr. Narendra Nath Jena, one of our regional faculty members. Other regional faculty members participated, as well as Dr. Vishwas Sathe, the Heart Association consultant for quality accreditation. Meenakshi Mission Hospital hosted the event; its theme was Bridging Borders for Better Resuscitation.

Presentations included Marida Straccia, International Resuscitation Programs Manager, on Advanced Stroke Life Support® (ASLS®), and Dr. Sachin Menon, India Consultant, on post-cardiac arrest care. They reinforced the Heart Association’s commitment to high-quality education. These efforts showcased global leadership, strengthened collaboration and increased visibility for simulation-integrated programs across India.

Earlier in Thrissur, India, the Regional Faculty Meeting trained 37 faculty members, including seven new additions, while promoting quality standards and engagement in international certification programs. Together, these events advanced the Heart Association’s mission to improve resuscitation outcomes worldwide.
