The American Heart Association and the International Federation for Emergency Medicine signed a memorandum of understanding on 11 June in Hamburg, Germany, launching a three-year global collaboration.

The agreement represents a shared commitment to improve emergency cardiovascular care by advancing training, research and coordinated systems of care. Together, the organizations will support clinicians with standardized, evidence-based education and practical tools.

A key priority is expanding access in low- and middle-income countries, where gaps in training and infrastructure can limit survival. The collaboration aims to build local capacity and deliver more consistent, lifesaving care.

“By aligning our efforts, we can help accelerate adoption of best practices and improve survival for patients experiencing life-threatening emergencies,” said John Meiners, chief of mission-aligned business and healthcare solutions at the Heart Association.
