American Heart Association initiatives support each critical step in the path leading scientific discovery from bench to bedside, Bradley A. Maron(link opens in new window), MD, FAHA, said in August at ESC Congress 2026.

Maron, editor-in-chief of the Association’s flagship journal, Circulation, noted that high-impact findings “only count” when they are translated into action. Success in scientific publishing is no longer merely about disseminating important research, but also curating, contextualizing and amplifying it to inform clinical action.

Quality improvement programs and global partnerships are an essential element. At the congress’s Global Quality Showcase, DP Suresh(link opens in new window), MD, FAHA, FACC, volunteer co-chair of the International Committee, said that meaningful progress “happens when we collaborate across borders and healthcare systems.”

The Association’s quality improvement portfolio spans 14 regions across North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions, encompassing over 5,200 Get With The Guidelines® and registry enrollments, nearly 2,200 certifications and data from more than 20 million patients supporting 1,000 research publications.
