Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®)

An American Heart Association and American Academy of Pediatrics Program

Advancing neonatal resuscitation through science and innovation

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) helps ensure every newborn has an expert team.

NRP Provider is an interactive blended learning course from the AAP and AHA designed to prepare healthcare professionals to respond confidently to neonatal resuscitation emergencies at birth.

This award-winning program is the trusted name in training and has equipped millions of healthcare providers with the skills to perform neonatal resuscitation worldwide.

The gold standard in neonatal resuscitation training

Available in Essentials and Advanced levels, NRP courses prepare providers to handle everything from basic resuscitation to high-risk births, helping healthcare organizations deliver consistent, team-based care, and help improve neonatal outcomes.

The NRP Essentials Provider course covers the foundational concepts of neonatal resuscitation (lessons 1-4) and is intended for anyone involved in the care of newborns.

The NRP Advanced Provider course covers a more comprehensive range of topics (lessons 1-11) and is designed for those who attend births and manage neonatal resuscitations, especially in high-risk or complex situations.

Flexible, evidence-based blended learning curriculum

The NRP blended learning courses combine self-paced online learning with instructor-led, hands-on training to build leadership, communication, and teamwork skills—critical for any setting, from hospitals and birth centers to EMS teams.

After a review of the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation ®, providers complete Part 1, a self-paced adaptive eLearning assignment. Once learners receive a completion certificate for the online learning component, providers continue with an instructor-led, hands-on training event. Providers who successfully complete both parts will receive an NRP Provider eCard.
