PALS training event showcases international impact

110 participants joined 25 instructors in the largest American Heart Association–guided Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) class held in Italy, in advance of the 81st Congress of the Italian Society of Pediatrics this spring. The class — delivered in collaboration with two Heart Association international training centers, SIMEUP (based in Milan) and DIMED (based in Padua) — was a marquee educational initiative tied to the congress. 

On site at the congress in Padua were the Heart Association’s Glenn Vanden Houten, regional director for Europe, sub-Saharan Africa, Israel; Dr. Marida Straccia, program administrator, international; and Dr. Serena Parisi, Europe, sub-Saharan Africa training consultant, all amplifying the class’ international profile.

The congress brought together hospital and family pediatricians, residents and other professionals working in maternal and child healthcare and in research. The PALS class was delivered according to 2025 AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care and related standards.
